Its story
31 Boötis is a yellow giant 537 light-years away, swollen to 23 times the Sun's radius and pouring out nearly 275 times its light. Its G8 III type sits exactly where our Sun will stand in some five billion years: the same hue, the same calm transition into stellar old age. It glows quietly on the western flank of the Herdsman at magnitude 4.86, an aged, amplified echo of our own star.
