Highly luminous starIts story
Lupus is a deep southern constellation, traversed by arms of the Milky Way. There beats this orange star, far larger and more luminous than our Sun — a giant burning with warm tone. Its light took about 1365 years to arrive: it set out as the Visigothic and Byzantine kingdoms were redrawing the old Mediterranean world and the first medieval chronicles were taking shape. Today it reaches us after crossing an entire millennium, almost like a memory of a world utterly unlike ours.
