Its story
Delta Phoenicis burns 142 light-years away within the Phoenix, the constellation Dutch explorers dedicated to the bird reborn from its own ashes. It is an orange K-type giant, calm and warm, drifting along the giant branch after exhausting the hydrogen at its core. Its moderate, embered light recalls the patient glow from which —according to the myth— a new fire will one day rise.
