Its story
49 Andromedae is a K-type star some 294 light-years away, nested in the constellation that shares its name with the chained princess. Its orange tone at magnitude 5.27 blends into the outline of a region famed for the spiral galaxy M31, the Milky Way s monumental neighbour. While that whole galaxy recedes at millions of light-years, this modest star belongs to the local foreground that surrounds it in perspective.
