What is 86 Virginis
86 Virginis shines yellow about four hundred and six light-years away, in the immense constellation of Virgo, one of the broadest of the zodiac. Its G type makes it kin to the Sun in colour, but its brightness and size cast it as an elder sister: a star in transition toward a giant future. The Virgin hosts one of the densest galaxy clusters visible from Earth.

86 Virginis lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is April: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
