Hot blue starIts story
In the direction of Centaurus, far beyond the nearer stars, shines a blue-white B-type beacon whose light, according to the catalogues, travels from a colossal distance: one of those stars that seem to belong already to the deepest backdrop of the Milky Way. Hot and powerful, its glow is the most extreme grain of an immense stellar field. Its light has spent whole ages crossing space to lean, faintly, into the southern sky.
