Cor Caroli B
Alp-1
Its story
Cor Caroli B is the fainter companion of the famous Cor Caroli, both lying 120 light-years away in Canes Venatici. It is a class-F star, slightly hotter than the Sun and white with a yellowish edge, that goes unnoticed under the glare of its primary partner. The name of the system pays homage to King Charles I of England, according to the tradition that credits the court astronomer of Charles II with christening it after the Restoration.
