Variable starIts story
It is a white, variable A-type star in Canes Venatici, a constellation near the Great Bear that gathers modest yet clean jewels. Its light took some 358 years to arrive: it set out when Velázquez was painting Las Meninas and Baroque Europe was refining the sense of perspective. Its brightness shifts with a pulse of its own, the variable s signature. In this constellation dedicated to the hunter and his dogs, it keeps a secondary but firm position.
