32 Virginis is a variable A-type white star 253 light-years away, set on the skirt of the celestial Virgin. Its brightness breathes in discreet oscillations, typical of young, hot stars yet to settle into final equilibrium. When the light now reaching us began its trip, the American colonies were still counted in plural and no constitution had been written.
Where it is and when to see it
32 Virginis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
