What is Zaniah
Zaniah belongs to Virgo, the great constellation of the celestial maiden, its name from the Arabic «al-zāwiyah», «the corner» or «the angle». A white A-class star roughly 265 light-years away, it is part of the quiet network of stars that traces the folds of the figure's robe. The light arriving this night began its journey when Newton was publishing the Principia in London.
Where it is and when to see it
Zaniah lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is March: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
