Its story
76 Leonis is an orange K-type giant 294 light-years away, on one of the flanks of the spring Lion. A mature body, cooler than the Sun yet far larger, it carries the amber tone that betrays an atmosphere which has been gradually cooling. Its light, leaving home in the 18th century, now reaches modern detectors warm, without any stridency.
