What is HIP 53377
On the back of the Great Bear, neighbor to the seven stars that trace the wagon, gleams a yellow G-type star, close kin to the Sun in color and temperament. Its 290 light-years were born while Bach was composing his Passions in Leipzig and Baroque music was reaching its zenith. The light we see is contemporary with that sonorous gold, traveling without pause from another century.

HIP 53377 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is February: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
