Cool red starIts story
37 Leonis is a rare M-type red giant lying within the body of the Lion, about 586 light-years away. Its cold, enormous atmosphere tints its light a deep, almost ruddy orange, the trademark glow of suns nearing the end of stable life. Among the white and blue stars that sketch the spring lion, its warm tone stands out like a faint ember pinned to the sky.
