Variable starIts story
A yellow light pulsing with a slow heartbeat, hidden in the keel of Carina. It is a variable giant whose glow travels 1561 years before touching the eye —when this light departed, the Byzantine Empire still held the Bosphorus and Constantinople had not yet fallen. Every flicker we see tonight is a fossil pulse the star itself has long forgotten.
