Its story
Ursa Major, that northern figure recognized at any boreal latitude, sustains a white A-type star 425 light-years away. Its light set out around 1601, the very year Tycho Brahe was finishing the Mars measurements that would let Kepler discover elliptical orbits. Magnitude 5.96: a crisp spark that crossed the century of the telescope from one end to the other.
