Its story
It lives in Carina, the keel of the ancient, oversized celestial ship Argo Navis, now broken into pieces. A yellow G-type star, similar to the Sun in colour but far more luminous, its light began its journey 1,310 years ago, deep in the Middle Ages, when Charlemagne was crowned emperor in Rome and began unifying western Europe. A distant, powerful sun, suspended in the keel of a vessel sailing the southern sky.
