Its story
Two hundred and fifty-two light years separate this white A-type from the terrestrial atmosphere. Its current photon left the star around 1773, when American colonists were throwing tea into Boston harbour and one of the first modern revolutions was taking shape. It shines in Vela, a fragment of the old Argo hull divided by eighteenth-century astronomers.
