Hot blue starIts story
In the Sails burns a rarity: a class O star, one of the hottest and most powerful surfaces in the stellar catalogue, at 2,509.2 light years. Its light left around the year 484 BCE, when Xerxes' Persians were preparing the invasion of Greece that would culminate at Thermopylae and Salamis. A blue beacon of immense intensity, far more luminous and energetic than the Sun, a true spectral jewel.
