HIP 43105
Variable starWhat is HIP 43105
Set in the hull of Carina, the keel, this blue-white ember breathes with a slow pulse that makes its brightness quiver. Its light set out on the journey some 605 years ago, when Flemish workshops were perfecting oil painting and Brunelleschi was closing the dome of Florence. A B-type star does not simply shine: it burns with an ultraviolet fury the Sun will never know.
