Highly luminous starIts story
Within the outstretched sails of the southern sky burns a yellow-white supergiant of spectral class F. Its light, born at a remove so vast it is reckoned in hundreds of thousands of years, crossed entire epochs before grazing any human eye. The constellation Vela —a shard of the old Argo Navis— holds it like a distant beacon, wholly indifferent to time measured in calendars.
