Its story
29 Cancri shines with A-type white light some 343 light-years away, within the discreet Crab. At magnitude 5.94 it lies beyond the comfortable threshold of the unaided eye, in a faint constellation famed nonetheless for hosting the Beehive cluster, M44. Cancer occupies a strip of the zodiac between Gemini and Leo, and amid its modest stars this cool luminary lends a silvery glint to the antechamber of spring s best-known open cluster.
