It belongs to the lineage of hot giants —suns so vehement they burn through their fuel in mere tens of millions of years. Its blue-white hue betrays a surface above twenty thousand degrees, scorching beside the temperate six thousand of the Sun. To look at it is to lean over an age that did not yet call itself history.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 41039 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is February: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight. How high it climbs above the horizon depends on the latitude you watch from.
