Variable starIts story
In the sails of the ancient Argo Navis, within the constellation Vela, burns a blue B-type star whose light oscillates with its pulsation. Its distance is vast: nine hundred sixteen light years. The light we receive set out around the year eleven hundred, when the Christian kingdoms of Iberia were advancing the Reconquista and the Song of the Cid was beginning to take oral shape. Hot and highly luminous, it shines in southern skies with a faint, persistent heartbeat.
