Variable starIts story
In Puppis, this yellow-white F-type star shines with subtle variability, as though its inner pulse were slightly irregular. Its light set out 3,137 years ago, around the 12th century BCE, when the great temples of Ramesside Egypt were being built at Luxor and Abu Simbel. Its lemony tone and immense distance place it among the luminous stars: what looks here like a faint spark is, in its surroundings, a colossal beacon.
