HIP 34834
Variable starWhat is HIP 34834
Within the Stern of the great Ship, a yellow-white F-type flame breathes with a soft pulse that astronomy has learned to measure. Its light takes nearly seventy years to cross the void —about the span between us and the first footprint on the Moon—. Hotter and more luminous than the Sun, its glow rises and falls like a patient heart, without flourish.
