Clean white, untrembling, on the flank of the Greater Dog, 424 light years away. The light entering the window tonight took leave of its surface around 1601, the year Tycho Brahe died in Prague leaving Kepler the task of unlocking planetary orbits. A typical A-class star: strong hydrogen in its spectrum, clean colour, no drama.
