Nu-1 Canis Majoris is a yellow star about 351 light-years away, in the field of the Greater Dog. Its light —that of a G-type giant— travels through a constellation dominated by the dazzling blue of Sirius. In that setting the golden hue of Nu-1 acts as a chromatic counterpoint —a warm point amid the cool tones of the celestial hunter.
