What is HIP 31407

In the austral heart of Carina burns a blue ember that the eye scarcely recognizes. Its light spent nearly thirteen hundred and sixty-five years crossing the void —it set out when the Visigoth kingdoms were crumbling in Iberia and monks copied manuscripts by candlelight. A B-type star, far hotter and more violent than the Sun, it is a blue forge living fast within a constellation named for the keel of a ship.
