Its story
74 Orionis is a white-yellow F5IV-V subgiant just 63 light-years away, placing it among the Sun's relatively close neighbours. With 1.4 solar masses and a radius 38% larger than ours, it burns hotter —around 6,500 K— and livelier than our daytime star. Two faint visual companions at 32 and 195 arcseconds trace a small, quiet system on the northern edge of the Hunter.
