Hot blue starIts story
On the edge of Orion glows a blue B-type star, fierce and violent. Its light set out almost 899 years ago, deep in the 12th century, when Christian and Muslim kingdoms were contesting the Iberian Peninsula and master masons raised Romanesque cathedrals. Far hotter than the Sun and bathed in ultraviolet radiation, it belongs to the lineage of stars that live fast and die young. Its modest glow in our sky hides a power capable of melting the cosmic ice around it.
