Its story
45 Orionis is a white-yellow F0III giant 360 light-years away, with a radius close to six times the Sun's and a luminosity eighty-three times greater. It forms a visual double that only large telescopes can split. Although it falls within the Hunter's borders, it takes no part in his famous figure —it hangs quietly near the stars that mark his shield and head, well clear of the belt—.
