Its story
52 Orionis shines with white A-type light in the celestial hunter, around 538 light-years away from Earth. It shares the sky with the famous Belt, the Sword and the Great Orion Nebula —angular neighbours far more celebrated, which make it a quiet star inside one of the most heavily photographed corners of the entire firmament. Its light has been travelling for nearly the whole span of modern astronomy.
