Hot blue starIts story
121 Tauri is a hot blue sun 553 light-years away, lost in the far northeast of the Bull, well away from the orange blaze of Aldebaran. Its B type places it among the hottest stars the naked eye can reach, with surfaces of tens of thousands of degrees and lives that burn short and luminous. At magnitude 5.37, it is a quiet blue spark in a sky dominated by closer, more famous neighbours.
