What is HIP 21670

A clean white light comes from Taurus, the region of the Pleiades and Hyades. Its journey began around 1866, just as Gregor Mendel was publishing his laws of inheritance in the obscurity of a Moravian monastery. One hundred and sixty years ago, this A-type star set out on the path that now brings it across the night sky.

Where it is and when to see it

HIP 21670 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December, when it culminates around midnight.

From London it culminates about 46° above the horizon.
