Hot blue starIts story
8 Leporis glows inside Lepus, the Hare crouched beneath Orion's feet. It is a blue B-type star more than 1,600 light-years away, a span so vast that its light slipped into the night during the 4th century —the twilight of the Roman Empire. Its surface burns near 20,000 degrees, hot enough to lend the most demanding spectra their ionised blue tinge.
