Hot blue starIts story
A blue B-type star burns in Orion at about 1004 light-years. Its light began its journey around the year 1022, in the heart of the Middle Ages, when Persian and Arab astronomers kept rigorous sky observation alive in Baghdad and Cordoba. Far hotter than the Sun and thousands of times brighter, it belongs to the youthful lineage of stars that illuminate the belt and shoulders of the celestial hunter.
