Hot blue starIts story
103 Tauri is a B-type blue, a hot giant shining from a staggering 1,500 light-years away. Stars like this are rare and brief: they burn their fuel with such fury that they live only tens of millions of years, a fraction of the Sun's span. Its light set out around the sixth century, in the depths of the Early Middle Ages, and is still on its way. It belongs to Taurus, the Bull, not far from the Pleiades cluster.
