Variable star

Its story

Mu Eridani is a blue subgiant belonging to the rare class of slowly pulsating B stars, a variable also classified as an Algol-type eclipser. Its 9,000-kelvin surface throbs over hours while an unresolved companion periodically crosses its disc. 522 light-years away, it flows discreetly along the winding course of the celestial River, the Eridanus that meanders across half the sky.
