Its story
It dwells in Eridanus, the river of light spilling across the southern sky. Its orange tone places it among the K-class stars, mature giants of slower combustion. Its light has been crossing the void for some 712 years —it set out before the Black Death had struck Europe and while medieval guilds were still organising the life of the cities. Far broader and cooler than the Sun, its warm reddish glow recalls the embers of an ancient fire. It is one of the serene beacons marking the stellar current of the river.
