What is 3 Camelopardalis
3 Camelopardalis shines with K-type orange light some 423 light-years away, in the quiet constellation of the Giraffe. At magnitude 5.07, the eye only senses it from dark skies, in a region poor in famed luminaries but rich in silence. Here, between the Great Bear and the Charioteer, the Giraffe stretches across a broad swath of the northern circumpolar sky, and this orange giant adds a warm note to its modest mosaic.

3 Camelopardalis lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is December: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
