Variable star

Its story

In the king Cepheus, some 757 light-years away, pulses this variable blue-white star of type B. Its light set out around 1268, when Gothic cathedrals were rising stone by stone and light began pouring in through their rose windows. Far hotter and more massive than the Sun, its brightness breathes with subtlety, reminding us that even the steadiest flames in the sky know an inner pulse of their own.
