Its story
56 Persei is a white-yellow F-type star 132 light-years away —close enough that the light it emitted around 1894, the year the first stellar photographic plates were taken at Harvard Observatory, is only now reaching our eyes—. It inhabits the eastern stretch of Perseus, in a region of the sky that in winter rides high over European latitudes, just clear of the bright dust of the local Milky Way.
