What is HIP 20341
Along the long course of the celestial Eridanus —the river of stars— shines an orange giant whose light crossed 467 years before reaching us. When it left, Luther was nailing his theses to the door at Wittenberg and the Reformation was shaking Europe. A class-K sun, cooler and older than ours, its coppery glow recalls the embers that outlast great bonfires —deep, patient, slow to fade.
Where it is and when to see it
HIP 20341 lies in the southern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
