Hot blue starIts story
22 Eridani shines with a blue-white tone along the long channel of the celestial river, a hot B-type star whose light departs from some 496 light-years. It left its surface around 1530, in the heat of the Protestant Reformation. Eridanus winds across the sky like an ancient stream; within that current, this blue star appears as a cold, almost metallic spark against the deep background of the southern winter sky.
