What is HIP 15549
Within Aries glows an orange ember of type K, a slow light the eye reads as aged amber. Its glow travelled 542 years to reach us: it set out as the Catholic Monarchs sealed the dynastic union of Castile and Aragon in 1479, crossing the ocean of night while Europe redrew its maps. Cooler than the Sun, it measures human history in a single, unhurried blink.

HIP 15549 lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
