Its story
16 Persei beats in quiet pulses. It is a yellow-white F2III giant some 121 light-years away, classified as a Delta Scuti variable: its brightness wavers in short, near-imperceptible cycles. It spins fast —around 150 km/s at the equator— smearing its spectral lines like ink dragged by wind. A faint visual companion drifts a few arcseconds away, a quiet shadow in the same Perseus field.
