Theta Persei lies just 36 light-years away, a solar neighbour of spectral type F7, 1.3 times the Sun's radius and slightly hotter. It shines with a calm yellow-white light in a constellation otherwise dominated by distant giants like Mirfak and Algol. The light reaching us tonight set out around 1990: a recent conversation, on a stellar scale, between Perseus and us.
