What is 65 Andromedae
65 Andromedae is an orange giant about three hundred and sixty-nine light-years away, in a constellation mythology tied to the chained princess. Its warm, deep light arrives from a star that has already burned through its core hydrogen and swelled into something far larger than the Sun. Andromeda also hides the nearest spiral galaxy —neighbours, each on its own scale.
Where it is and when to see it
65 Andromedae lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is November: the Sun sits at the opposite point of the sky and the star culminates around midnight.
