Nu
Hot blue starIts story
Nu Andromedae is a hot blue B-type star whose light has been travelling through space for nearly 618 years. Its visual importance for astronomers is indirect and famous: it lies very close, in projection, to the Andromeda Galaxy, M31, serving as the launch point for finding the spiral system nearest to the Milky Way with the unaided eye. A stellar beacon that points, unknowing, toward a realm of a hundred billion suns.
