13 Lacertae inhabits the Lizard, a minor constellation wedged between Cygnus and Andromeda. At 256 light-years, this orange K-type giant lends its coppery tone to a sky region crowded with faint stars. The light you catch now set out when Galileo was still arguing with Rome. A warm flame in a corner of the sky almost no one names.

13 Lacerta lies in the northern celestial hemisphere. It is visible to the naked eye under a dark sky. Its best month of the year is September, when it culminates around midnight.
